Congratulations to PhD candidate Ian Hughes (Peter Girguis, Advisor) awarded the [Lewis and Clark Fund for Exploration and Field Research](https://www.amphilsoc.org/grants/lewis-and-clark-fund-exploration-and-field-research) from the American Philosophical Society for the project titled, “Exploring an ecologically critical seagrass symbiosis in Barbados and Antigua.”

The fund, which will support Ian's fieldwork in the Caribbean, encourages exploratory field studies for the collection of specimens and data and to provide the imaginative stimulus that accompanies direct observation for graduate students, postdocs and junior scientists.
