Congratulations to [Associate Professor Javier Ortega-Hernández](https://www.oeb.harvard.edu/people/javier-ortega-hernandez), recipient of the [Schuchert Award](https://www.paleosoc.org/awardees) from the Paleontological Society. The Charles Schuchert Award is made to a Member early in their career whose paleontological work reflects excellence and quality.

Professor Ortega-Hernández's research aims to address important and challenging evolutionary questions such as, "What did the earliest animals look like?" and "How did they function in their environment?" through sophisticated analyses of the fossil record. He specializes in exceptionally preserved soft-bodied fossils that provide an exclusive glimpse into the body plans and lifestyles of ancient animals.
