Postdoctoral Fellow, Heidi Fisher (**Hoekstra Lab**) collaborated with **L. Mahadevan** to create a mathematical model that simulated swimming sperm showing that while groups of sperm don't swim faster, they do swim straighter, which actually increases their speed. The study was published in [Proceedings of the Royal Society B](http://rspb.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/281/1790/20140296) was featured in [National Geographic](http://phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2014/07/23/these-mice-excel-at-assembling-the-ideal-sperm-swim-teams/) and [Harvard Gazette](http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2014/08/when-cooperation-counts/?utm_source=SilverpopMailing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=08.21.2014%20(1)).
