Professor Andrew Davies joined conservation scientist Fiona "Boo" Maisels from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) on the [final episode of the Congo Basin season](https://news.mongabay.com/2023/11/forest-elephants-are-the-glue-holding-congo-rainforests-together-experts-say/) on Mongabay Explores Podcast.

The researchers discuss the ecological benefits of forest elephants, why they are crucial for forest health, and what could happen if the elephants, described as the "functional glue" that makes the system work together, were lost to the forest.
