Gonzalo Giribet and graduate student, Vanessa Knutson are investigating a mysterious purple organism recently found in the Pacific Ocean near California's Channel Islands by E/V Nautilus researchers. The Nautilus team sent samples to Professor Giribet at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology, where he is working with Vanessa Knutson to identify the organism.
