 

#  The Hoekstra Lab Discovers Gene for Faster and More Virile Sperm in Promiscuous Mice

 **Hopi Hoekstra** and lab members, **Heidi Fisher** (former postdoc), **Emily Jacobs-Palmer** (former graduate student) and **Jean-Marc Lassance's** (research associate) new study in [Nature Communcations](https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms13652), compares two closely related species, the deer mouse (*peromyscus maniculatus*) and the oldfield mouse (*P. polionotus*), and finds the promiscuous deer mouse has a gene that makes their sperm faster and more virile.
