Pardis Sabeti's study of genetic data from hundreds of people from Bangaldesh was published in the journal [Science Translational Medicine](http://stm.sciencemag.org/content/5/192/192ra86) and showed genetic differences between people who had contracted cholera and those who had been exposed, but did not become ill.
