Kirkpatrick</a><br>Professor<br>The University of Texas at Austin<!--break--></p><p>	"Sex Differences in the Recombination Landscape"</p><p>	<strong>Abstract:</strong> Sex differences recombination are ubiquitous, but have gotten little notice.  A metaanalysis across eukaryotes reveals consistent patterns, and population genetic modeling suggests how those patterns might evolve.  Sexually antagonistic selection is one of the key forces involved, and our analyses show it is widespread across the genomes of humans and fishes.  Sex differences in recombination are particularly dramatic on the sex chromosomes.  We find two new evolutionary pathways for these differences to evolve:  rearrangements between sex chromosomes and autosomes, and the introgression of a new sex chromosome from hybridization with another species.</p>
