###  **Housing**

 Finding accommodations in the Boston area can be quite challenging. The HIO offers [information on housing](https://www.hio.harvard.edu/housing) including temporary accommodations, which you may need while looking for permanent housing. **HIOs information applies to everyone, international and citizens**

###  **International Appointments**

 [Chris Preheim](mailto:cpreheim@oeb.harvard.edu), Senior Academic Appointments Administrator, will work with you and the Harvard International Office (HIO) to guide you through the Visa process. The HIO offers more information on the various [types of visas](https://www.hio.harvard.edu/visa-types).

 As you prepare to leave home please be sure to have the following items with you when traveling to the United States:

- Valid passport
- Valid Visa document (Form DS-2019 or I-797)
- Valid visa in passport (not applicable to Canadian citizens)
- Appointment offer letter
- Medical record (only if needed for follow up care while in U.S.)
- Money for initial expenses
