Benefits
If you are eligible for benefits, you MUST sign up within 30 days of the activation of your appointment. The Benefits Office will send a benefits package explaining all the options available to benefits-eligible postdocs. The package is sent through the US Postal Service within 10 days of the activation of your appointment. Please note, the Benefits Office does not issue the benefits packages in person. If you have not received a benefits package within 10 days, please contact Sarine Der Kaloustian, Associate Director, and call the Benefits Office at (617) 496-4001.

Benefits vary according to your employment type.
Harvard benefits-eligible categories ordinarily include:
* Postdocs who are paid by their PI ("Employee" postdocs)
* Stipendee postdocs in life science departments
* Research Associates
...who also have to be:
* Employed on a regular University payroll
* Receive a paycheck from Harvard, and
* Work at least 17.5 hours/week or a base annual rate of at least $15,000
Non Harvard benefits-eligible postdocs are eligible to purchase a healthplan at the affiliate rate.
* Stipendee fellowship postdocs not in life science departments, who receive their stipend from Harvard
* External ("Visiting") postdocs, who are primarily paid directly (not through Harvard).
