Harvard provides comprehensive health benefits and insurance programs that support you and your family. Many options are available in each category below. Please note, eligibility for certain benefits depend on employee status.

Summary of available coverage:

  • Medical - Harvard offers subsidized medical coverage from Harvard University Group Health Plan (HUGHP) and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA). 
  • Dental - Harvard offers in-network and out-of-network dental coverage through MetLife.
     
  • Vision - In addition to the vision benefits offered under our medical plans, Harvard offers a comprehensive vision care plan from EyeMed.
     
  • Disability and Life Insurance - Free basic life insurance and short term disability provide basic financial protection. You may purchase additional long term disability coverage and life insurance at competitive rates as well as dependent life insurance for spouses/domestic partners and eligible children.

  • To inquire about or to confirm your eligibility to access HUHS services, or to update a Primary Care Physician, contact the Registration department at 617-495-5795, or  email Registration@huhs.harvard.edu.

Benefits-eligible Postdocs:

  • Harvard University Group Health Plan (HUGHP) members, please contact HUGHP Member Services at 617-495-2008 or email MServices@huhs.harvard.edu to review a summary of benefits and coverage and to assign your Primary Care Physician.
  • Harvard Blue Cross Blue Shield members, contact Harvard-dedicated BCBSMA at 888-389-7732.
  • Visit the HUHS webpage to learn about services HUHS offers.
  • The Patient Portal allows you to view and update your profile, and schedule appointments in Primary or Urgent Care.

Non-Benefits eligible Postdocs:

  • If you have opted for the Harvard University Affiliate Health Plan, please contact Member Services at 617-495-2008, or email MServices@huhs.harvard.edu.
  • If you have not enrolled in the Affiliate Health Plan, please contact your health care provider directly, or consult with a local public hospital in your area. If you have a private insurance plan, please consult with your insurance plan about in-network providers and benefits.
